Spirit Airlines has announced 4 recent routes from its base at Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI), including two transcontinental services. From early May, the ultra-low-cost carrier will begin flying to Boston, Portland, Latest Orleans, and San Diego.

Flights to each Portland International Airport (PDX) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) will start on May eighth, while services to Louis Armstrong Latest Orleans International Airport (MSY) and San Diego International Airport (SAN) will start on May ninth. The brand new routes will operate as per the next frequencies:
- Boston – 7 per week
- Portland – 4 per week
- Latest Orleans – 5 per week
- San Diego – 3 per week

The brand new services will provide passengers at each ends of the routes with more options for travel. Baltimore/Washington International Airport, meanwhile, took to X (formerly often known as Twitter) to rejoice the brand new routes:
The brand new routes will probably be operated by Spirit Airlines’ fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft, which has a mean age of just 7.2 years old. Data from ch-aviation shows that the carrier’s fleet currently consists of 17 A319s, 64 A320s, 85 A320neos, 30 A321s, and 11 A321neos. Spirit Airlines also has an extra 40 A320neos and 71 A321neos on order.

Spirit Airlines Welcomes Its tenth Airbus A321neo
The aircraft operated its first passenger flight to Austin, Texas.
Baltimore/Washington International Airport is one among three airports to serve the Washington-Baltimore area. The opposite two airports are Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Dulles International Airport (IAD). In 2022, the airports saw a complete of 11.1 million, 11.5 million, and 10.2 million passengers, respectively.
Spirit Airlines at Baltimore/Washington International Airport
Spirit Airlines already connects Baltimore/Washington International Airport to several popular destinations across the US, in addition to one international path to Cancun (CUN) in Mexico. Last 12 months, Boston was the fourth-busiest route from the airport, with greater than 425,000 passengers, behind Atlanta (932,000), Orlando (733,000), and Fort Lauderdale (482,000).

On its recent routes, the carrier will go head-to-head with Southwest Airlines (San Diego, Boston, and Latest Orleans) and Delta Air Lines (Boston). Spirit Airlines won’t face any direct competition on its recent path to Portland. JetBlue will end its service connecting Baltimore and Boston on May 1st.
