The Turkish carrier Pegasus Airlines is seeking to have its largest summer season ever in flights to the UK. In keeping with London Stansted Airport (STN), Pegasus is seeking to operate a whopping 55 direct flights per week from Turkey. Let’s discover more.
An increasing capability
Turkey’s leading low-cost airline is seeking to operate 55 direct flights per week to London Stansted this summer. It’ll directly connect this airport with five top destinations in Turkey, including Istanbul (SAW), Antalya (AYT), Dalaman (DLM), Ankara (ESB), and Izmir (ADB).
As of June 2023, the route between London and Istanbul has 30 weekly flights or about three to 5 day by day. The opposite routes have one weekly flight (Izmir and Antalya) or less (4 between London and Dalaman and three to Ankara).
Gareth Powell, London Stansted’s Managing Director, said,
He added that by increasing capability and frequency on existing routes (particularly employing its Airbus A321neo), passengers may have more selection and adaptability without having to travel to other airports. Pegasus Airlines operates a fleet of 93 aircraft and flies to 129 destinations throughout Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia, plus 36 domestic destinations in Turkey.Last 12 months, the airline doubled its international passenger numbers.
Meanwhile, Pegasus Airlines’ Chief Financial Officer, Barbaros Kubatoğlu, said that greater than six million passengers have flown with Pegasus Airlines from London Stansted since 2007.
How’s the Turkey-England connectivity looking immediately?
Beyond the charter flights between Manchester and Istanbul, that are happening this week as fans fly to attend the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday, the market between the UK and Turkey is booming.
In keeping with data from Cirium, there are currently 781 weekly scheduled flights between the UK and Turkey. Thirteen airlines operate in the marketplace, with Jet2.com having the biggest capability, operating 172 weekly flights and making 34,193 seats available. Other carriers include easyJet, Turkish Airlines, TUI, Pegasus, SunExpress, British Airways, Corendon Airlines, Wizz Air, Smartlynx Airlines, Freebird Airlines, Euroflyer Limited, and JSC Avion Express.

Turkish Airlines operates the biggest variety of flights on a given route. Between London Heathrow and Istanbul, it currently operates 45 weekly flights or between six and 7 day by day. A complete of 19 routes between the UK and Turkey currently have ten or more weekly operations. Pegasus flies 30 weekly services between Istanbul and London Stansted; easyJet, Turkish Airlines, and British Airways fly 21 weekly services each on the routes London Gatwick-Dalaman, Manchester-Istanbul, and London Heathrow-Istanbul, for instance.
