A correspondent reported that a ballistic missile had fallen at Aden International Airport on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. A police source said a Houthi missile landed within the airport grounds, and that a Saudi military aircraft on the field was not hit and took off shortly afterward.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree then called on people at the airport to evacuate, saying a Saudi military cargo aircraft was there transporting weapons. Residents in Aden said they heard explosions before that warning. There was no immediate comment from Saudi authorities or Yemen's internationally recognized government.

Key details

  • First report: about 10:13 UTC, October 28, 2026, at Aden International Airport (ADE / OYAA).
  • A police source said a Houthi missile fell within the airport grounds while a Saudi military aircraft was present. The source said the aircraft was not hit and departed soon after.
  • Yahya Saree said people at the airport should evacuate because of that cargo aircraft. A local security official said a loud explosion was heard near the airport. Casualties and damage were not immediately known.

Why it matters

Aden International is the main civilian gateway for southern Yemen and sits in the city that hosts the internationally recognized government. A missile on the airfield, plus an evacuation call over a claimed military cargo flight, puts that runway and anyone still on it in harm's way.

What happens next

Airport managers and Yemeni officials have not yet posted a public damage or casualty count. When does Aden International resume scheduled flights?
