Lockheed Martin said it conducted the program’s first in-flight retargeting demonstration of a Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) rocket with the U.S. Army. The rocket launched from a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), and teams updated its target during flight.
Key details
- Lockheed Martin said the test took place at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.
- The company said the team used its Strigo datalink and Remote Interceptor Guidance-360 (RIG-360) to update the target, integrating the systems through company-funded development work.
- Lockheed Martin said the rocket destroyed a moving target.

Why it matters
Lockheed Martin said the datalink package could also apply to Extended Range GMLRS and the Precision Strike Missile. In-flight target updates could give operators another way to adjust a precision munition’s destination after launch.
What happens next
