Amsterdam is gearing as much as host the highly anticipated Amsterdam Drone Week (ADW) from April 16 to 18, offering a singular opportunity for professionals within the air mobility sector to explore recent technologies and modern solutions. The event, themed “Shaping the Way forward for Scalable Drone and Air Mobility Services,” goals to bring together global leaders and innovators to foster worldwide collaboration and integrate skies globally. With 4 weeks to go, there remains to be time to register and join the global convergence shaping the longer term of air mobility.
ADW 2024 will feature an expansive program with speakers corresponding to Michele Merkle, Director of the Air Navigation Bureau on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO); Nick Careen, Senior Vice President Operations on the International Air Transport Association (IATA); and other distinguished figures from the industry. The event will mark the inaugural Global Air Mobility Conference, a major step toward establishing a worldwide framework for harmonized regulations. This initiative is supported by key partnerships with leading aviation organizations and the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
“The Global Air Mobility Conference can function a vital forum towards the AAM 2024 Symposium at ICAO’s Headquarters in Montréal on 9-12 September 2024. In Amsterdam, we are able to inform the worldwide conversation and leverage ongoing efforts towards stakeholder cooperation on this rapidly growing industry,” said Michele Merkle, based on an Amsterdam Drone Week press release.
The agenda will cover a wide range of topics, including the longer term of electrical vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, drone logistics, and the challenges and advantages for current mobility systems. Panels, workshops, and lectures will address key questions on supporting the deployment of advanced air mobility, fostering public trust in recent technologies, and aligning Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) certification with technology development.
Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is highlighted as a method to attach communities and enhance transportation services through drones, promising time and infrastructure savings for urban and rural areas alike. Cities like Amsterdam, Paris, Hamburg, and a few from Japan, alongside countries corresponding to the US, Germany, Kenya, Canada, Oman, Ghana, and Rwanda, will share their visions for sustainable urban ecosystems and U-space implementation.
The show floor will feature modern firms showcasing the newest products and solutions, including a special start-up pavilion highlighting cutting-edge technologies in inspection, maintenance, and logistics. The pavilion will exhibit the flexibility and potential of drone technology in fostering a sustainable and efficient future.
Amsterdam Drone Week 2024 serves as a worldwide platform for the air mobility sector, structured around five thematic pillars crucial for constructing a worldwide regulatory framework for scalable drone and air mobility services.
