While American Airlines already offers flights to Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD), Melbourne Airport (MEL), and Auckland Airport (AKL) through direct flights and its partnership with Australian flag carrier Qantas, Brisbane stays relatively underserved. Services are currently offered by Air Canada to Vancouver International Airport (YVR), Qantas to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and United Airlines to Los Angeles and San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

The brand new route is ready to bolster connectivity between North America and Oceania, with American Airlines’ network opening up over 100 Australia-bound one-stop-hops through the continental United States from its hub in Dallas.
In an announcement shared by the airline on Thursday, American Airlines Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning Brian Znotins celebrated the carrier’s expansion down under this winter. Znotins explained,
Other upcoming additions to American Airlines winter schedule include resumed seasonal services to Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport (KOA) and a second every day flight to Kahului Airport (OGG) from Dallas, every day flights from Dallas and Recent York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Galeão International Airport (GIG) in Rio de Janeiro, and an earlier December launch for the carrier’s Los Angeles to Auckland route.

While Australia has lagged behind other countries in restoring its pre-pandemic air links, an array of recently resumed routes has bolstered Brisbane’s connectivity through Asia and the Middle East.
Towards the tip of 2023, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines relaunched direct services from Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN), respectively. United Airlines scaled up its capability in the town, utilizing its Boeing 787 on routes to Los Angeles and San Francisco through the winter season.

Jetstar’s Boeing 787s Start Asian Invasion From Brisbane Airport
Jetstar has began a significant expansion into Asia that may see its 787s flying from Brisbane to Tokyo, Seoul and Osaka.
