70% more traveling internationally
While domestic demand stays strong, it is also price noting that the airline saw a big increase within the variety of pass members taking flights for international destinations, with a 70% increase in international itineraries using points in 2023, in comparison with only a 10% increase on domestic redemptions. The overall director of LATAM Pass in Brazil explained:
“We’re expanding Brazilians’ access to airplanes due to a strong loyalty program that gives all seats sold by LATAM in points. I attribute the expansion in redemptions to a few aspects: the natural demand for air travel in 2023, the greater familiarity of Brazilians with loyalty programs due to the increased possibilities of accumulating points, whether in a straightforward trip to the supermarket with a bank card or when purchasing a product from a partner retailer, and on account of the competitive redemption value that the LATAM Pass offers.” (Translated from Portuguese).
