Chennai is about 2,400NM (4,445 km) from the Mauritian capital of Port Louis and serves as a gateway to the Southern parts of India. Additionally it is the third-most visited city within the country, offering travelers a likelihood to explore the magnificent places of worship, in addition to historical and cultural landmarks. While India’s Vistara flies to Mauritius from Mumbai, there are not any carriers connecting Port Louis and Chennai in the meanwhile.
Increasing India operations
Starting November 20, Air Mauritius will serve Delhi Indira Gandhi International (DEL) thrice every week, increasing from the present twice-weekly frequency. It’s introducing a Monday service from Mauritius. The primary flight on the brand new frequency will depart MRU at 21:15 and arrive at DEL at 06:15. The remainder of the schedule is as follows:

Delhi flights were relaunched in May, a month after the carrier celebrated 50 years of its presence in India. On the time, Chief Executive Officer Krešimir Kučko announced that the corporate would explore other avenues to extend its footprint in India. Air Mauritius also serves Mumbai (BOM) six times every week. With the resumption of Chennai and the brand new Delhi schedule, the carrier will fly to 3 Indian destinations as much as ten times every week.

Since October 15, Air Mauritius’ Mumbai service has been operated by HiFly under a wet lease contract. The corporate deploys an Airbus A340 with 267 economy and 24 business class seats. The partnership, which can run until November 13, allows the airline to keep up flights on the route because it currently lacks sufficient capability.
International operations
With a fleet of 12 aircraft, Air Mauritius flies to 2 domestic and over ten international destinations in nine countries. On October 29, the carrier marked a major milestone in its UK flights because it moved from London Heathrow (LHR) to London Gatwick (LGW). This move allows it to extend its frequency on the Mauritius-UK route from five weekly to day by day flights.

The service is operated with the A350 on certain days and the A330neo on others. It joins British Airways, which operates three weekly flights with the Boeing 777. The Mauritian flag carrier can be increasing its service to Perth from two to 3 weekly flights starting December 9, 2023.
