WestJet has renewed its sponsorship of the Canadian Premier League (CPL) for an additional 4 years. As a part of the deal, WestJet shall be the official airline and vacation partner of the CPL for an additional 4 years, running through 2027.
A mutual passion for soccer
The Canadian airline first teamed up with the CPL back in 2019, with the partnership founded on a mutual passion for engaging with local communities nationwide and connecting them with soccer throughout Canada and the world over.

As a part of the renewed sponsorship deal, WestJet will proceed to move CPL players and staff members across the country, along with supporters hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite club in motion. The prolonged partnership also signifies that members of the airline’s loyalty program, WestJet Rewards, shall be eligible for brand spanking new advantages, including exclusive ticket discounts and VIP experiences.
The CPL will run its sixth season in 2024. The league’s Executive Vice President, Glen Johnson, expressed his delight on the renewed cope with WestJet, saying,
“Canada is a giant, beautiful country, and which means a variety of travel for our clubs, who go from Vancouver Island to Halifax and nearly in all places in between. We’re grateful to WestJet for helping us get our teams and supporters where they should go, knowing that together we will make a good greater impact inside our league and on the numerous individuals who love soccer in Canada.”

WestJet was equally happy with the partnership, with the carrier’s Executive Vice-President and Chief Business Officer adding,

Strengthening WestJet’s presence in Calgary
WestJet will even proceed to sponsor the Calgary-based Cavalry FC, and the team’s kit will sport the WestJet logo for the sixth consecutive season. This provides the airline with greater marketing opportunities each locally and nationwide.

Calgary International Airport (YYC) serves as WestJet’s primary international hub and acts as the bottom of the carrier’s widebody fleet of seven Boeing 787-9s. Data from ch-aviation shows that WestJet’s 787-9s have a mean age of 4 years. Each aircraft seats a complete of 320 passengers in a three-class configuration – 16 in business class, 28 in premium economy, and 276 in economy class. From Calgary, the airline’s 787-9s fly to a handful of long-haul destinations, including London Heathrow (LHR) and Rome (FCO), and will even serve Seoul (ICN) from May 2024.
