Canada’s second-largest airline, WestJet Airlines, has announced increased flights from Calgary to Ottawa and Los Angeles as a part of its previously announced winter schedule. The airline is doubling down on the Calgary-Ottawa service, with seven weekly flights added in the course of the peak travel period this winter. Five weekly flights have been added to the Calgary-Los Angeles schedule. The key carrier of western Canada is hoping for a busier winter after a number of years of pandemic-related disruptions.
Increased flights from Calgary
Calgary International Airport (YYC) serves because the headquarters and first hub for WestJet. The airline is increasing flights in its already-published winter schedule from YYC to Ottawa’s Macdonald–Cartier International Airport (YOW) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The airline published its winter schedule in July, offering reasonably priced leisure and sun travel opportunities to warmer destinations.

The airline is doubling its Ottawa service to 14 weekly flights in the course of the peak travel period starting on October 30. The airline also adds five weekly flights to its Los Angeles roster, bridging the entire to 21 weekly flights at the height travel period. Throughout the winter 2023-2024 season, WestJet will operate near 900 weekly flights from its YYC hub. The airline states in its press release that the brand new frequencies shall be effective from October 30, and the bookings on each routes shall be available starting September 5.
