Volaris has unveiled a special Barbie livery on considered one of its A320neos ahead of the world premiere of the upcoming Barbie movie. The plane will serve the airline’s beach destinations this summer.
Volaris teams up with Barbie
Mexican airline Volaris partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures on the livery before the much-anticipated Barbie movie hits theaters later this month. The Airbus A320neo sports the same old Volaris white-dominant livery but with a twist – the ‘Volaris’ text towards the front of the fuselage is now coloured in Barbie’s trademark pink, while Barbie herself (played by Australian actress Margot Robbie) makes an appearance within the midsection.
Daniel Gelemovich, director of promoting and digital of Volaris, commented,
The aircraft has already been spotted by travelers at Mexico City International Airport (MEX), who’ve snapped footage of it gearing up for its first journey.
This follows an extended tradition of airlines decorating their aircraft with movie-based liveries. Other well-known examples include the many various Star Wars jets through the years – including planes from All Nippon Airways, United Airlines and Virgin Atlantic – WestJet’s ‘Frozen’ livery or Hawaiian Airlines’ ‘Moana’ jet. As for Barbie, the toy franchise’s last appearance within the aviation scene got here in 2015 during a Qantas campaign – on that occasion, the Australian carrier unveiled an interesting collection of 44 Barbie and Ken dolls donning Qantas uniforms from the past century.
The partnership can even see lucky travelers win prizes as Volaris rolls out a social media campaign. The airline has promised Barbie fans there’s more to come back when it comes to giveaways, so stay tuned to its online channels this month.
United Airlines previously hinted it could do something Barbie-related within the run-up to the movie’s release, but thus far has not revealed anything further. Barbie can have its world premiere in Los Angeles on July ninth and is as a consequence of hit theaters worldwide starting July twentieth.
