Just three months ago, Vietjet launched services between Sydney and Melbourne to Vietnam, starting with a modest three flights every week from each cities. After one month, it said it was going to four-weekly flights from September and yesterday, it upped the ante much more by announcing each day flights will begin in December.
More demand so add more flights
On top of that Vietjet launched twice weekly flights from Brisbane Airport to Ho Chi Minh City in June, which can increase to three-weekly from December. Vietnam’s leading independent carrier will go from 20 weekly nonstop flights between Australia and Vietnam to 34, adding 70% more capability using its Airbus A330 widebodies.

In April, Vietjet Vice President Quang Xuan told Easy Flying the airline was planning for each day services in 2024, in addition to studying opportunities for flights to Adelaide, Perth and Canberra. Vietjet likes to maintain its marketing messages easy, just like the $0 promotional fares, and said yesterday it was adding more flights
Given the sky-high airfares that Australians have endured for months, it’s no wonder Vietjet is stimulating enough demand to generate 70% more flights in its first yr. It’s fast becoming a gateway to Asia with a plethora of low-fare services and seamless onward connections from Ho Chi Minh City throughout the region.
Vietjet now has seven Airbus A330-300s configured in a two-class layout of 377 seats, and the additional 14 weekly flights will add greater than 270,000 seats annually to the route. The A330s have 12 lie-flat seats in SkyBoss Business and 365 in economy, configured in a 3-3-3 layout.
