Summary
- Singapore Changi to Kuala Lumpur International has more flights than another international route
- While seven carriers serve it, most flights are by Malaysian operators
- Asia and the Middle East are vital for the highest routes
The world has greater than 12,000 international routes in September, the most recent OAG data shows. But what about probably the most served? To work this out, I actually have used departing flights, although seats on the market may very well be used as a substitute, perhaps also available seat miles/kilometers. As this text looks forward slightly than backward, passengers couldn’t be used. Different measures result in numerous outcomes.
Top five international routes
The 12,000+ routes mentioned above have a mean of nine weekly departing flights (double for each ways). In contrast, the highest five below have 186 to 271. They’re led by the short 184-mile (296 km) hop from Singapore to Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur. All are airport-level international routes. Results can be different at town level.

Readers might find it interesting that probably the most served international route involving the US is Recent York LaGuardia to Toronto Pearson in ninth place. Perhaps surprisingly, the most well-liked involving Europe is London Heathrow to Recent York JFK, in tenth. It has 157 departures every week, although many city pairs would beat it.

The numerous increase by Singapore Airlines is, after all, because Silk Air now not exists. In 2019, the 2 operators had 70 weekly flights, but there at the moment are 47, a 3rd fewer.
Using the 787-8, the routing is Addis Ababa-Singapore-Kuala Lumpur-Singapore-Addis Ababa. Having arrived from Africa at 14:50, ET638 leaves Changi for Malaysia at 15:50. Flight ET639 arrives back in Singapore at 00:35, departing for home at 02:00 and arriving back at 05:50. Passengers and freight can then transfer across a lot of the vast African continent.
