Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet has announced a bunch of latest services under the Indian government’s subsidized regional connectivity scheme. Two of those are international flights connecting two cities in Northeast India to nearby destinations in Myanmar and Bangladesh.
Recent international flights
SpiceJet has announced that it’s going to soon start recent international services from Northeast India. The airline will connect Agartala within the Indian state of Tripura with Chattogram in Bangladesh, and Imphal within the Indian state of Manipur with Mandalay in Myanmar. These recent connections are expected to be operational by June end.

By June fifteenth, SpiceJet plans to bring back into service 4 aircraft – two Boeing 737s and two Bombardier Dash-8-Q400 regional aircraft. The airline has had several aircraft grounded for quite a while, which has resulted in it losing a good portion of its market share.
18th anniversary
Despite its current problems and reports of economic issues, SpiceJet is celebrating its 18th anniversary by offering discounted tickets to passengers and increasing the salaries of its pilots.
The carrier has announced low-cost tickets up for grabs, with one-way prices on certain sectors ranging from ₹1,818 ($22). The offer is valid on ticket purchases between May twenty third to twenty eighth for travel period between July 1st to March thirtieth, 2024.

One other positive development is the salary increment offered to the airline’s pilots. SpiceJet often has to defend questions regarding delayed salaries to its staff, and with rival airlines announcing hikes in wages for the flying crew, the LCC, too, has announced a hike for its pilots.
From May sixteenth, the monthly compensation for SpiceJet’s captains might be ₹750,000 ($9,057) a month for 75 hours of flying. A tenure-linked loyalty reward of as much as ₹100,000 ($1,200) has also been announced by the carrier for its captains.
