Last Wednesday, Ukrainian media reported that a Russian helicopter pilot flew his Mi-8AMTSh “Hip-H” assault transport helicopter loaded stuffed with spare parts for jet fighters right into the hands of Ukraine’s military. It was a part of a defection operation planned in coordination with the GUR, Ukraine’s military intelligence agency.
The successful caper will be the first defection involving a helicopter operated by Russia’s armed forces.
