Known for its rating of the safest airlines on the planet every year, AirlineRatings also hosts the Airline Excellence Awards, rating airlines based on a wide range of aspects in order that we will decide to fly higher.
The firm states that the rating is formed by a panel of judges who, together, have greater than 100 years of combined industry experience. They consider aspects including safety, product rating, fleet age, profitability, incidents, passenger reviews, innovation and forward aircraft orders.
Top of the rating for 2024 is none aside from Doha-based Qatar Airways, an airline renowned for its refined and opulent travel experience. Qatar regains the highest spot in 2024 after losing its crown last 12 months to Air Recent Zealand. It had previously held the title in 2021 and 2022.

What’s great about Qatar Airways?
While AirlineRatings admitted that the scores were very close among the many top 10 airlines, Qatar Airways scored highest in lots of categories and inched ahead of its competitors. Particularly, passenger feedback, sourced from various places, was consistently outstanding for Qatar Airways, with flyers praising its consistency, service and high standards.

Along with bagging the Airline Excellence Award for 2024, Qatar Airways picked up Best Business Class for the fifth 12 months running. AirlineRatings agrees with Skytrax here, as that organization also voted Qatar’s product the most effective on the planet in 2023 (for the tenth time!).
If you happen to’re not familiar, Qatar Airways has a superb onboard product dubbed the QSuite, available on its newer A350s and choose Boeing 777s. With doors that close, loads of storage, and the choice to mix 4 suites into a bunch room, it has consistently set the bar for the easiest that business class can possibly offer to passengers.
The seat, or suite, is just the beginning of the Qatar experience. Hot on the heels of the wow factor of the accommodations come some truly high quality dining, generous amenity kits, complementary pajamas, and world-class IFE. However it’s not all in regards to the passengers at the sharp end of the plane.
In economy, passengers are treated to around 31” – 32” of legroom (depending on the aircraft) and a seat width of 18”, one in all the widest within the industry. Amenity kits are provided even here, and the inflight dining is just as meticulously crafted as that in business and first.
Unusually for economy, Qatar Airways offers unlimited snacks and drinks throughout the flight. Its in-house Oryx One entertainment system has an enormous 4,000 hours of on-demand content, and naturally, the cabin crew offer the identical inimitable hospitality and care onboard.
Who else got ranked?
Last 12 months’s winner, Air Recent Zealand, slipped down the rankings to position 4 for 2024. The airline recently reduced its profit outlook for the 12 months based on stronger-than-anticipated competition, which could have hurt its scores. Nonetheless, the airline is about to launch its lie-flat economy ‘Skynest’ product later this 12 months, so it could well be back in the highest spot next time.

Air Recent Zealand’s Economy Bunk Beds Will Launch This Yr
Do you intend on booking a flight to check out these bunk beds within the sky?
Stepping up into second place is Korean Air, ranked fourth last 12 months. It has sailed above Air Recent Zealand and Etihad to take the silver medal, perhaps a mirrored image of its record 2023 revenues and $13 billion order for Airbus A350s.

In bronze medal position is Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific, surging back up the ranks from ninth position last 12 months. The airline was one in all the last to begin its recovery following the pandemic shutdown, and at the same time as recently as Q4 of 2023, its capability was well below where it was.
Since then, it has reported its first profit in three years, passed major passenger milestones, and unveiled recent products in each business and economy class. It’s great to see the Asian airline getting back to full strength.

Notable by their absence, some airlines didn’t make it onto this 12 months’s top 25 list in any respect, but had done in previous years. JetBlue, for instance, got here in 18th last time, but wasn’t on the list in any respect for 2024. Nonetheless, American Airlines managed to squeak onto the list in twenty fifth place, having not featured in any respect in 2023.
