Porter Airlines, based out of Toronto, Canada, has recently begun service to Charlottetown Airport (YYG) from Ottawa International Airport (YOW). Today, May 17, was the inaugural flight for this service. The airline has also confirmed plans to serve Charlottetown from Ottawa year-round.
Porter Airlines reinforces its presence in Eastern Canada
The airline has continued its goal of expanding into Eastern Canada with its latest route. The brand new route, flying between Ottawa and Charlottetown, is a each day non-stop service. Porter Airlines has also confirmed that this will likely be a year-round service. With this announcement, Porter Airlines now flies to every of the Atlantic provinces in Canada for the primary time.
The Mayor of Charlottetown, Philip Brown, spoke in regards to the airline’s expansion into the realm, saying,
“We won’t wait to begin welcoming Porter and their passengers to Charlottetown, the birthplace of a nation. This expansion means more opportunities for visitors to find town’s hidden gems, for college kids and newcomers to more easily travel home, and for more business possibilities to support and interact our growing population.”
The brand new route has begun with eleven weekly flights. Because the 12 months progresses, the variety of flights per week will change. The Ottawa to Charlottetown route will increase to 14 flights per week throughout the summer season when travel is predicted to peak. When the winter season begins, this route will decrease to once per day. This decrease will occur on October 29 this 12 months.

The Chief Executive Officer and President of Porter Airlines, Michael Deluce, spoke in regards to the latest flight being offered, saying,
“The launch of the Charlottetown-Ottawa route is a crucial milestone for Porter as we bring our signature service to Islanders for the primary time. As we proceed constructing a broader North American network, our growth throughout Eastern Canada stays a crucial priority to make sure communities have access to reliable air service.”
The route connecting Charlottetown to Ottawa is an ideal connecting airport for travelers in Eastern Canada. Ottawa flies on to other large hubs in Canada, including Vancouver International Airport (YFR) on the West Coast. Ottawa also connects to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) and Pearson International Airport (YYZ). With the introduction of the Charlottetown route, Porter Airlines will now operate a complete of ten direct flights from Ottawa International Airport.
Porter Airlines continues expanding throughout Canada
Along with the newly flown Ottawa to Charlottetown flight, Porter Airlines has recently announced several other latest routes. The airline recently announced it could increase its presence on the West Coast of Canada by adding a flight between Vancouver and Ottawa. This latest service will launch this summer and be flown by an Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. This flight will likely be flown once a day round trip.

This is able to allow Porter Airlines to extend its range and fly direct to southern cities in america from its already established hubs in Canada. The airlines has identified Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Orlando as potential markets for the longer term.
