Earlier this week, Porter Airlines became the most recent carrier to launch flights to Orlando International Airport (MCO). As of November twenty first, the Canadian carrier flies day by day to the favored Florida vacation destination from each Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW).
The launch of the brand new routes follows the airline’s arrival at Fort Myers (RSW) earlier this month, and coincides with the beginning of the height winter travel season, as tourists flock south en masse. Based on Visit Florida, a complete of two.79 million visitors arrived within the Sunshine State from Canada in 2022.

The airline will deploy its Embraer E195-E2 aircraft on the routes, each of which carries a maximum of 132 passengers. The newest data from ch-aviation shows that Porter Airlines’ fleet currently comprises 23 Embraer E195-E2s, along with 29 Dash 8-Q400s. Once onboard, passengers can enjoy free WiFi and complimentary beer, wine, and premium snacks.
The flight schedule
Porter Airlines’ recent services from each Toronto and Ottawa to Orlando operate every day, as per the next schedule:
- Toronto – Orlando – departs 12:00, arrives 14:58
- Orlando – Toronto – departs 08:00, arrives 10:48
- Ottawa – Orlando – departs 17:30, arrives 20:59
- Orlando – Ottawa – departs 16:00, arrives 19:02
The flights are also timed to supply connection opportunities across Canada to passengers starting their journey in Orlando.
Porter Airlines’ Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Jackson, celebrated the launch of the 2 recent routes, saying,
“Canadians are probably the most frequent international visitors to Florida, and Porter is proud to take off on two more routes into the Sunshine State. With Porter’s unrivaled level of comfort for economy travelers, our passengers can stay up for having fun with the journey and the destination.”
The CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, Kevin J. Thibault, was equally optimistic in regards to the route launch, adding,
“With Porter’s recent service, Orlando International can offer passengers much more selections to go to Orlando’s popular theme parks and interesting destinations like Toronto and Ottawa. We’re glad to have Porter join our airline family and stay up for many journeys ahead.”
Healthy competition on each routes
Orlando is an especially popular vacation destination for Canadians, so it isn’t any surprise that Porter Airlines will face ample competition on its recent services, particularly on the Toronto to Orlando route. The opposite carriers currently operating flights to Orlando from the 2 Canadian airports are:
- Toronto – Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, Air Transat, Canada Jetlines, Lynx Air, Sunwing Airlines, WestJet
- Ottawa – Air Canada Rouge, WestJet
