Embraers heading to Luxembourg
Aircraft manufacturer Embraer has announced that it has received an order from Luxembourg’s national carrier Luxair for 4 of its E195-E2 regional jets. The deal also sees the airline securing delivery positions for an additional five airframes.

Under the terms of the agreement reached with Embraer, the deal also includes conversion rights to modify the delivery positions to E190-E2s should the airline want to exercise its right to alter models.

Announcing the deal between the parties, Martyn Holmes, CCO of Embraer Industrial Aviation, said,
“It’s great to welcome Luxair back to the Embraer Family. Prior to now, Luxair has operated ERJ-145 and Emb-120. The E2 is perfectly suited to Luxair’s operations and ambitions, closely complementing Luxair’s existing and on-order fleet, ensuring the utmost level of fleet and network optimization to the airline for the long run. The E2’s special power is that its recent technology, low noise, and environmental footprint make it possible for airlines to administer each their growth and sustainability goals.”
Meanwhile, Gilles Feith, Luxair’s CEO, said,

Embraer and Luxair will not be strangers
While this latest order marks a brand new milestone in the connection between Embraer and Luxair, the 2 corporations are removed from strangers.
The airline has been using German Airways ERJ-190 D-ACJJ since May 2022, with a second plane, D-AJHW, joining the Luxembourg carrier in May of this 12 months. Each are operated in a two-class configuration, seating six passengers in business class and 92 in economy class.

Highlighting its economic and environmental advantages, Embraer states that its E2 family has a 25.4% improvement in fuel efficiency per seat.

It also boasts as much as 10% reduction in fuel burn in comparison with its closest competitors, 16% lower fuel consumption, and as much as 65% noise reduction.
The E2 family of regional jets has found success with several key regional operators worldwide. Data from ch-aviation shows that Porter Airlines (19) and Azul (17) are significant operators, as is KLM’s regional subsidiary, CityHopper (18). Binter Canarias currently employs a fleet of 5 E2s in its fleet.
