On Monday, the South American ultra-low-cost carrier JetSMART and American Airlines announced the launch of their codeshare agreement on flights between america and Chile. In the longer term, JetSMART will add destinations in Chile, Peru, and Argentina, where it operates three domestic branches.
A brand new partnership for American Airlines
It was in July 2020 when American Airlines and JetSMART announced a partnership and a minority investment by the US carrier within the Chilean-based ultra-low-cost company. This partnership would create the broadest network within the Americas, said the firms.
American Airlines is already crucial US carrier in Latin America. Nevertheless, it was left and not using a powerful ally in the world after LATAM left it for Delta Air Lines just a few years ago. JetSMART, an Indigo Partners-backed company with 100 Airbus narrowbody jets on order, became the right recent partner for American Airlines.

Yesterday, JetSMART and American Airlines announced the start of ticket sales for his or her codeshare flights between america and 4 Chilean destinations: Santiago (SCL), Antofagasta (ANF), Concepción (CCP), and Puerto Montt (PMC). JetSMART offers 77 routes across South America and has said it is going to add recent destinations in the longer term, including some in Peru and Argentina. The ultra-low-cost carrier can also be opening a brand new branch in Colombia, which could possibly be added to the partnership.
Expanding long-haul service to Latin America

JetSMART and American’s reach in South America
Using a fleet of only Airbus A320-family-based aircraft, JetSMART currently operates 923 weekly flights, in response to data from Cirium.
