More Embraer aircraft
Already the preferred regional aircraft family in the US, the variety of Embraer’s Ejets continues to grow, with the E175 being essentially the most used aircraft for regional operations. Envoy Air, a wholly-owned subsidiary of American Airlines, announced an order for 19 aircraft from the Brazilian manufacturer. The order includes eight E175s and one other 11 E170s, and orders are expected to start this 12 months.
Envoy Air is one among the numerous regionals that operate flights for American Airlines and has nearly 20,000 employees. Each day, the regional operates almost 800 flights to 160 cities in the US and beyond. Envoy is accountable for operating several routes to the Caribbean and Latin America.
American Airlines Has Ordered 4 Embraer E175s For Envoy Air
American Airlines added 4 Embraer E175s to its backlog, with the quartet to be delivered to Envoy Air in Q4 2024.
With today’s order, Envoy’s commitment now stands at 169 Embraer aircraft, 126 E175s and 43 E170s. Last 12 months, Envoy placed three small orders with Embraer: six E175s in March, seven E175s and five E170s in June, and 4 E175s in October. Pedro Fábregas, Envoy’s CEO, said,

Current flight and where the planes fly
Based on data from ch-aviation, Envoy currently has 172 aircraft in its fleet, spread amongst three major aircraft types. The American subsidiary is an all-Embraer operator, with 34 retired E145s, 30 E170s, and 108 E175s. The E170s are rapidly aging, averaging about 18 years, while the E175 fleet is way younger, with a median age of six years.
Envoy is scheduled to operate 22,469 flights for American Airlines this month. Cirium data shows Envoy’s busiest route is from Dallas Fort Value International Airport to Springfield-Branson National Airport, with over 460 roundtrip flights. The seat offering on this route is just over 35,000. As mentioned above, Envoy’s reach goes beyond domestic flights, with several countries reached with its Embraer aircraft.

Over 1,700 of Envoy’s flights this month are to international destinations from five American hubs: Dallas, Chicago, Miami, Phoenix, and Charlotte. From Miami, nine international destinations are served by Envoy: Nassau, Dominica, Monterrey, Marsh Harbour, George Town, Freeport, North Eleuthera, Anguilla, and Tortola. The Embraer aircraft are also flown to Canada, connecting Toronto to Chicago.
The longest international route in Envoy’s network is from Miami to Dominica, covering 1,414 miles, making it one among eight routes over 1,000 miles. The shortest international route is just 112 miles long, connecting Miami to Freeport on a flight blocked at 49 minutes on most days.
