Emirates has announced its plans to once more mark the German festival of Oktoberfest with a special onboard offering in the approaching weeks. From September sixteenth to October third, the UAE flag carrier’s flights to and from Germany will feature traditional cuisine, with airport lounges also getting a special menu.
The offering extends to all classes of travel
Operating out of its hub at Dubai International Airport (DXB), Emirates is currently flying thrice a day to Frankfurt (FRA), and twice a day to Düsseldorf (DUS), Hamburg (HAM), and Munich (MUC). For the following few weeks, these services will feature special lunch and dinner menus across all classes of travel.
For economy class passengers, who will likely be served the special menu on outbound flights, with the principal component being “.” This will likely be followed up by an apple cake for dessert, served with almonds and vanilla sauce.

Meanwhile, business and top notch passengers have a more extensive offering at their disposal. This features, as Emirates explains, “.” Desserts in business and top notch are apple cake and strudel respectively.
Lounge and entertainment options
Emirates’ vibrant Oktoberfest celebrations will even extend to its lounges. When it comes to the onboard lounges that could be found on its Airbus A380s, these areas can have bite-size sandwiches available with a wide range of traditional fillings, in addition to, in fact, salted and buttered pretzels. For those with a sweet tooth, the onboard lounges will even feature a choice of traditional pastries.
Meanwhile, on the bottom, Emirates’ airport lounges in Düsseldorf and Munich are also set to affix the party. Here, Emirates plans to serve traditional delicacies akin to (cheesy egg noodles) and (a Bavarian cheese spread), alongside the likes of potato salad and chicken thighs, each topped with parsley.

Emirates can be using Oktoberfest as a possibility to showcase its wide selection of German onboard entertainment. The carrier has 45 German-language movies loaded into its inflight entertainment systems, alongside one other 300 Hollywood movies with German dubbing. Musically speaking, Emirates’ audio-based entertainment library features 28 German playlists and albums.
Lufthansa can be cashing in
Emirates is not the only major airline altering its offering according to Oktoberfest. Indeed, German flag carrier Lufthansa has also got in on the act, with a handful of additional flights to cater for tourism connected to the festival. As Easy Flying reported back in July, these 11 additional rotations will depart from London Stansted Airport (STN), serving Munich between September fifteenth and October 1st.
