Egyptair is ready to return to Japan in September with flights to Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT) after a three-year hiatus. It has also announced the launch of flights to India and Libya, starting in August and September, respectively.
The flag carrier is launching latest long-haul routes and reinstating previously-served destinations per the presidential directive to accentuate operations to spice up the nation’s civil aviation sector.
Return to Tokyo
Egyptair announced that it’ll resume flights to Japan on September 12, 2023. The service will likely be operated between Cairo International Airport (CAI) and Tokyo Narita twice weekly with the carrier’s Boeing 777-300 aircraft. It offers various fares, with economy and business class available on the route.
The Egyptian airline last served Japan in early 2020, before the service was discontinued on account of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. With air travel in North Africa above pre-pandemic 2019 levels, Egyptair is launching several international routes to enhance its competitiveness at regional and global levels.

Flights from Cairo and Tokyo will likely be operated on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while return services will likely be operated on Wednesdays and Fridays. The primary flight will depart CAI at 23:45 local time, arriving in NRT at 18:30 local time, after 12hr45min. The return flight will depart NRT at 21:30, arriving in CAI at 04:40 the next morning.
Egyptair’s Triple Seven has a two-class configuration, with 297 economy class seats and 49 business class seats. This summer, the airline will likely be the just one operating flights between CAI and NRT. Two airports serve Tokyo, Narita International and Haneda International (HND), but Egyptair will only serve Narita because it did before the pandemic.
Flights to Delhi
The North African carrier has also announced the launching of international flights to Latest Delhi, India. Along with the commercial on its social media platforms, this was also announced through Egypt’s Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Abbas Helmi, who highlighted the importance of developing and enhancing the efficiency of the country’s air transport market.

Egyptair will start flying from Cairo to Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) on August 1, 2023, 4 times every week. Although connections can be found, flights will likely be operated on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays with the Airbus A320neo.
Return flights will likely be operated on the identical days, lasting as much as 6hr45min. The North African airline’s A320neo also has a two-class configuration, with 126 economy class and 16 business class seats. The only-aisle aircraft offers a superior cabin experience, with ambient lighting, in-flight entertainment, and onboard WiFi.
Regional routes
Along with international destinations, the Civil Aviation Minister has also announced that Egypt’s flag carrier will boost its operations within the regional market. Although dates haven’t been specified, the airline will start flying to Libya’s Misrata International Airport (MRA) from Cairo in September.

In a gathering with the aviation minister, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi highlighted the necessity for using advanced systematic studies for the enhancement, modernization, and improved reliability of air travel within the region. He also identified the advantages of the country’s geographical location, which Egyptair will leverage for expansion.
