easyJet recently announced its plan to extend its presence at Scotland’s Glasgow Airport (GLA) by basing a sixth aircraft at the power. The orange-liveried low-cost airline has made the move after its busiest-ever summer program in Scotland, and projects that the expansion will create around 40 recent job opportunities.
Larger and higher
easyJet already has a major presence in Scotland, serving dozens of year-round and seasonal routes from its bases in each Glasgow and Edinburgh (EDI). Combined with smaller offerings in Aberdeen (ABZ) and Inverness (INV), this ultimately saw it fly seven million passengers to and from Scotland within the 2023 financial yr. Commenting on this, easyJet’s UK Country Manager Ali Gayward stated that:
“We’re proud to be Scotland’s largest airline, and are delighted to have carried a record seven million customers in our last financial yr, offering a incredible network of 84 routes across 4 Scottish airports.”

In 2024, the carrier will look to extend its presence within the Scottish market even further, following its announcement that it should vase a sixth aircraft in Glasgow from next summer.
