Customer & Industrial Director Caroline Fitzgerald said,
The 50-minute flights will proceed until February 2024 – easyJet has made the choice to increase its Amsterdam service as its summer schedule has proven so popular with travelers. Together with its popularity as one among Europe’s leading city break destinations, Amsterdam Schiphol boasts a few of the most extensive onward connections on the continent and can be a significant business hub.
The airline operated its first flight from Southend to Amsterdam on May twenty fourth with Easy Flying in attendance. Many flights on this route have reportedly already sold out, showing how high demand is for flights to one among Europe’s premier cities.
4 Southend destinations, soon to be five
The airline currently serves 4 destinations out of London’s sixth airport – Amsterdam, Faro, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca – with a fifth, Paris Charles de Gaulle, on the way in which in late October. The Paris service will run 4 times per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays) and shall be available all 12 months round.

Bulgaria flights next summer?
In response to Echo News, Southend Airport may start offering direct flights to Bulgaria from next summer – tour operator Balkan Holidays has included Southend Airport in its 2024 schedule, suggesting all that is still is a proper announcement from the airport and airline. There are other routes on the table too, including restoring a former link with Jersey which attracted greater than 60,000 passengers annually pre-pandemic.

Southend is well positioned for a period of rapid growth, provided that it’s currently operating at a fraction of its full potential – passenger traffic over 2022 was just 4.4% of what it was in 2019, while the airport has lost almost 70 destinations throughout the last decade. John Upton, CEO of London Southend Airport, added the airport is “confident there may be more to come back for summer 2024.”
