Delta Air Lines is trying to expand its presence in Asia further next summer with the launch of the day by day nonstop service from Seattle International Airport (SEA) to Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). Subject to government approval, this route could begin on June 6, 2024.
First nonstop Delta flight to Taipei
When launched, this recent service to Taipei might be Delta’s inaugural nonstop service to this Asian destination directly from the USA. Moreover, it can be Delta’s return to TPE since 2017, when the airline served this destination via Narita International Airport in Tokyo, Japan.

The brand new day by day, year-round service to Taipei might be operated on Delta’s Airbus A330-900 fleet, offering Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Predominant Cabin. These widebody jets can carry 281 passengers, with 29 closed suites in Delta One, 28 recliner seats in Delta Premium Select, 56 standard seats in Delta Comfort+, and 168 standard seats in Economy.

Competition out there
By launching this recent route, Delta Air Lines will compete directly with EVA Air, which operates ten flights per week between Seattle and Taipei. Actually, EVA Air has the biggest presence in flights between Taipei and the USA, operating six different routes from TPE, serving Houston (IAH), Latest York (JFK), Los Angeles (LAX, the fundamental route, with three day by day flights), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Seattle, and San Francisco (SFO).
Other corporations flying from Taipei to the USA include China Airlines, operating the routes to Los Angeles, Ontario (ONT), Latest York JFK, and San Francisco, and Starlux Airlines, flying to San Francisco and Taipei. The one US-based carrier to operate in the marketplace to date is United Airlines, which flies from San Francisco to Taipei twice day by day.
Delta’s presence in Asia
With the recovery of demand within the Asia-Pacific market, Delta is restoring and expanding its services across the region. To this point in 2023, the corporate has announced a second day by day flight to Seoul Incheon (ICN) from Atlanta; increased flights to China from 4 times per week to 10 times per week (routes SEA-PVG and DTW-PVG); resumed service to Tokyo Haneda from Honolulu and Minneapolis; launched the primary ever flight from Los Angeles to Auckland (AKL) in Latest Zealand year-round; and increased flights to Sydney from ten weekly to 14 weekly this winter season from Los Angeles.
