D-Fend Solutions’ EnforceAir Chosen for FAA’s Airport UAS Detection and Mitigation Research Program

Counter-drone detection and takeover technology leader D-Fend Solutions has been chosen to participate within the FAA’s Airport UAS Detection and Mitigation Research Program, under Section 383 of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018. The corporate’s EnforceAir C-UAS system will undergo initial testing at Atlantic City International Airport (KACY), with potential additional tests to occur at other airports.
EnforceAir is this system’s first first RF-cyber based advanced protocol full takeover UAS detection and mitigation system, and is designed to optimize threat detection and mitigation in airports through a counter-drone approach enabling nearby authorized drones to proceed operations without affecting navigation or communications systems, damaging infrastructure, or burdening personnel. The system grants 360 degree and long-range directional protection and coverage, safeguarding airport facilities and takeoff and landing airspace corridors.
“EnforceAir’s engagement on this mission-critical FAA program aligns perfectly with our core mission of leading in providing essentially the most advanced technology to beat rogue drone threats in essentially the most sensitive environments and airspace, most notably airports, in a controlled manner that permits secure and uninterrupted operations”, said D-Fend Solutions Chairman and CEO Zohar Halachmi. “We’re gratified to be chosen for this prestigious and selective program, and we commend the FAA for prioritizing requirements for the safest types of non-disruptive mitigation technology that allow for airport operational continuity.”
D-Fend’s participation on this FAA program is a continuation of the corporate’s collaboration with multiple US federal agencies across DoD, DHS, and DoJ, in addition to its recent advice by the DoD’s Joint Counter Small Unmanned Systems Office (JCO).
The Airport UAS Detection and Mitigation Research Program allows the FAA to collaborate with leading federal departments and agencies to ensure the creation of systems designed to detect and/or mitigate potential drone threats and ensure they don’t interfere with secure airport operations.
