In keeping with a report by Reuters, Air Europa sent out an email to passengers who might need been affected by the breach, in addition to notified the relevant financial institutions following the cyber attack. Meanwhile, reports by the Spanish each day El Pais said that the airline had confirmed that there was a cybersecurity incident, with Air Europa confirming that the stolen data only includes the numbers of several bank cards, expiration dates, and the CVV security code.
Containing the cyberattack
Air Europa’s representative also told El Pais that the cyberattack has now been contained and that it has bolstered its IT systems. The hackers obtained no other personal information, the spokesperson added.
