British Airways has removed the Airbus A380 from flights between London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) in April 2024, when the International Air Transport Association (IATA) summer season 2024 starts.
Returning the A380 to IAD

Currently, the British Airways Airbus A380s are equipped with 469 seats, split between 14 firstclass, 97 Club World (business class), 55 World Traveller Plus (premium economy), and 303 World Traveller (economy) seats.
Nevertheless, the Club World seats are actually dated, with the latest British Airways aircraft equipped with Club Suites, which provide direct aisle access and enhanced privacy. Notably, the present seat layout on the carrier’s A380s has a 2-4-2 seat layout on the major deck and 2-3-2 on the upper deck. In each cases, the center seats face backward.

Throughout the latest International Airlines Group (IAG) Investor Day presentation, the parent company of British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia, and others indicated that the group plans to refresh the cabins of all LHR-based British Airways aircraft by 2027. This includes the Airbus A380s, all of that are based at the biggest airport within the metro area of London.
The cabin refresh comes as IAG desires to concentrate on a premium experience onboard British Airways aircraft, which a best-in-class product and outstanding service would enable. This also includes the redevelopment of its lounges and enhancements to in-flight entertainment (IFE) offerings.
