Recent rise in onboard violence
For the reason that pandemic began, the air transit industry has experienced an alarming uptick within the variety of unruly and violent passengers. Throughout the pandemic, passengers disgruntled with the mask requirements occasionally became openly hostile toward others. While most of those hostilities were verbal, select travelers would turn out to be violent.
Many believed these violent outbursts would dissipate with the lifting of mask restrictions. Nevertheless, much to the general public’s dismay, this was not the case, as following the removal of pandemic restrictions got here a wave of demand for air travel. Amid the surge in demand for air transit operations, airlines and airports worldwide began to buckle under the pressure as they were ill-prepared to handle the massive volume of passengers. This led to record high flight disruptions, whose effects are still felt today. While flight disruption levels are down from last 12 months, they continue to be high, as does the variety of hostile passenger encounters.
