South American airline Avianca has announced that it is going to close the yr with a fleet composed of 150 aircraft, following the addition of ten Airbus A320neo jetliners in the next months.
Adding recent planes
Avianca desires to proceed adding more planes and seats to its fleet because it moves beyond the COVID-19 crisis and its latest Chapter 11 bankruptcy process. The airline announced on Wednesday it plans to achieve a fleet of 150 aircraft by the top of the yr, adding ten recent Airbus A320neos in 2023.

The ten recent planes announced on Wednesday are the product of Avianca’s negotiations with leasing corporations. Moreover, Avianca has a standing order with Airbus. Based on Airbus’ latest Orders and Deliveries database, Avianca has ordered 163 planes, of which it has received 75, meaning it has an unfilled order of 88 planes, all of them A320neo.
Following the airline’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy process, Avianca has focused more on delivering a low-cost-like onboard service on its route map. Just a few routes still have the previous legacy-type service, including Avianca’s flights from Bogota to Los Angeles, where it recently reintroduced business class seats onboard a wet-leased Boeing 787 fleet.
