United’s Boeing 767-400ER aircraft include four specially configured seats in rows 52 and 53 on the left side of the economy cabin. The seats primarily serve as in-flight rest positions for flight attendants on longer flights.
Key details
- The seats are 52A, 52B, 53A and 53B.
- They feature added cushioning, greater recline, extendable leg and footrests, and curtains.
- United may make them available to passengers on some shorter flights when crew-rest needs permit.
Seats 52A, 52B, 53A and 53B have 43 inches of pitch, compared with 31 inches in standard economy.
Why it matters
The seats provide a designated rest space within the economy cabin rather than a passenger-focused seating option. Their features include about seven inches of recline, compared with the standard economy seat pitch of 31 inches.
