Galaxy 1 Communications and Viasat have agreed to move their jointly developed uncrewed-aircraft support platform into commercial production. The platform combines satellite connectivity with operational services and is designed to extend Viasat’s Velaris ecosystem for uncrewed and autonomous aviation.
Key details
- Viasat’s L-band satellite network provides the platform’s connectivity.
- Galaxy 1 is set to provide operational and commercial infrastructure, including service provisioning, billing, reporting and remote terminal management.
- Reported platform capabilities include service activation, monitoring and configuration, along with API integrations and equipment lifecycle management.
- Intended users include logistics and medical-delivery aircraft, air taxis and inspection platforms, including those operating in remote areas.
The platform uses Viasat’s L-band satellite network to support connectivity for uncrewed aircraft.
Why it matters
The arrangement pairs satellite connectivity with tools for managing aircraft services and network equipment. Those functions target a range of uncrewed and advanced air mobility operations, from delivery aircraft to inspection platforms.
