Challenge Group plans a freighter service from Navi Mumbai International Airport to Liège Airport and Chicago Rockford International Airport. The company presented the plan during the TIACA Air Cargo Forum.

Key details

  • The planned start date is 4 November 2026, with two flights per week.
  • The service is expected to use a Boeing 777 freighter.
  • Challenge Group plans to carry pharmaceuticals and oversized or out-of-gauge freight.
  • At Liège, about 1,500 monthly truck movements can connect cargo with destinations across Europe.
  • Rockford is arranging temperature-controlled trucking for destinations in the area and Chicago warehousing facilities.
  • Rockford is seeking U.S. Department of Agriculture approval to handle live-animal shipments, which Challenge Group may add to the service later.

Challenge Group plans to connect Liège with European destinations through about 1,500 truck movements per month.

Why it matters

The route would give cargo customers a planned air link between India, Europe and the Chicago region. Temperature-controlled trucking and onward European transport would support shipments beyond the three airports, including pharmaceuticals and oversized freight.

What happens next

The planned launch gives cargo customers a new India-Europe-US connection to follow as service preparations continue. Which types of freight would benefit most from this route?
