AutoFlight said five unmanned electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft flew in formation at its Bailian Lake Flight Test Base in Kunshan, China. The company reported the flight on November 5, 2026, and said it took place about five days earlier.
Key details
- The formation comprised one five-ton V5000 and four two-ton aircraft, representing three variants.
- The aircraft took off vertically and flew together for just over 45 minutes, covering more than 133 kilometers.
- AutoFlight identified the variants as the V2000CG CarryAll, V2000CGF firefighting variant, and V5000 Maxtrix.
- AutoFlight also reported a five-aircraft formation flight on November 1, 2026, in strong winds.
AutoFlight said the five aircraft covered more than 133 kilometers during the formation flight.
Why it matters
AutoFlight’s lift-and-cruise design uses dedicated rotors for vertical lift and rear propellers for forward thrust in wing-borne cruise. The company describes the aircraft as transitioning from vertical takeoff to fixed-wing flight, with the lift rotors switched off during cruise.
