Allegiant president and CFO Robert Neal said the airline currently favors the Boeing 737 MAX 8’s cost economics as it develops premium seating offerings.
Key details
- Allegiant announced an order for 30 MAX 7s and 20 MAX 8-200s in January 2022, with options for 50 more aircraft.
- A September 2023 amendment kept 50 firm aircraft, shifted the allocation toward the MAX 8-200, and raised the option total to 80.
- Allegiant exercised six options in October 2026 for aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2028, bringing its firm Boeing order to 56 aircraft.
- As of October 23, 2026, 22 aircraft had been delivered and 74 options remained.
Robert Neal said Allegiant currently prefers the MAX 8’s cost economics as it develops premium seating offerings.
Why it matters
The order history shows Allegiant has adjusted its planned mix between the two MAX variants while retaining options for additional aircraft. Neal linked the airline’s current preference for the MAX 8 to its cost economics and plans for premium seating.
