2023 marked the primary full calendar 12 months of scheduled operations for Dominican flag carrier and ultra-low-cost airline Arajet, with the brand new kid on the Caribbean block having operated its first industrial flight in September 2022. The 12 months ended on a positive note for the carrier, which it has celebrated by extending its one-dollar sale.
Greater than half one million passengers carried
Arajet went from strength to strength in 2023, with notable highlights including the arrival of its sixth Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, in addition to its launch of the world’s third-longest route for the sort. When all was said and done, as announced in a press release published by the carrier yesterday, Arajet carried over 550,000 passengers last 12 months. It’s aiming even higher in 2024, with CEO Víctor Pacheco Méndez stating:
“Arajet demonstrated its commitment and loyalty to the democratization of the region’s skies in 2023. (…) In 2024, we’ll proceed to extend frequencies within the markets that need more Arajet presence, [and to offer] our passengers the chance to travel safely, on recent aircraft, with the most effective service onboard, and at the most effective market prices.”

With further growth planned this 12 months, Arajet is targeting an annual passenger total that is sort of thrice higher in 2024, with 1.5 million guests being the publicized aim. Network growth to the likes of Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay can be on the cards, with the carrier awaiting DOT approval to serve the US as well.
Extending the sale
In celebration of its strong performance in 2023, Arajet has marked the achievement by extending its ongoing $1 sale. Originally launched in late November last 12 months across the time of Black Friday, the sale has seen Arajet start ticket prices on certain routes for just $1 (or the equivalent in an area currency) plus fees and taxes.
The initiative was launched to mark increased frequencies on several of Arajet’s routes, and it can now last a bit longer into the brand new 12 months. Indeed, as Arajet announced yesterday, passengers will find a way to book one-dollar fares in a window that runs from January 4th to eighth, for travel between January 14th and June fifteenth.
