The Dominican ultra-low-cost carrier Arajet has announced a brand new international route connecting Santo Domingo Las Américas International (SDQ) with Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport (EZE). This will probably be the primary time the 2 cities will probably be directly connected.
A brand new route
On November 14, 2023, Arajet will begin operating three weekly flights between each cities on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Arajet has announced five recent routes within the last couple of weeks. This one created great expectation after the corporate’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) hinted about it on X. Some –including us– thought the Dominican ultra-low-cost carrier may finally announce a flight to the USA.
As an alternative, the airline received authorization from Argentina’s civil aviation authorities to start servicing Buenos Aires.

Upon launching services to Buenos Aires, Arajet will offer 20 destinations in 15 countries across the Americas. The airline will turn one 12 months old in September. It has, within the span of a 12 months, created a low-cost hub in Santo Domingo, replicating the success of other firms corresponding to Copa Airlines (in Tocumen) and Icelandair (in Keflavík). Arajet employs Santo Domingo as a hub connecting destinations corresponding to Montreal and Toronto within the north with cities corresponding to São Paulo, Santiago, and now Buenos Aires within the South.
An ideal opportunity

The gap between Santo Domingo and Buenos Aires is 3,734 miles (3,245 nautical miles). In line with data from Cirium, this might place Arajet’s non-stop service because the second-longest onboard a Boeing 737 MAX aircraft (behind GOL’s Orlando-Brasilia route, which covers 3,778 miles).
