Alaska Airlines has announced a brand new nonstop service between Sonoma County Airport and Las Vegas. The year-round service can be a every day flight and is about to launch in October.
Alaska to launch Sonoma-Vegas this fall
Alaska is expanding its network at Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) with the addition of Harry Reid Las Vegas Airport (LAS). The every day flight – served by the carrier’s Embraer E175 regional fleet – will begin on October 1st with a morning outbound leg to Vegas, followed by an early evening return.

AS will compete with Avelo Airlines on this route – the ultra-low-cost carrier launched flights in September 2021 and currently operates 4 weekly services to/from Vegas. With Las Vegas joining the network in October, AS will serve a complete of seven destinations from Sonoma County this fall, also including Burbank, Los Angeles, Orange County, Portland, San Diego and Seattle.
Alaska passengers flying to Sonoma County will profit from its unique ‘Wine Flies Free’ program, which allows Mileage Plan members to fly home with a whole case (12 bottles) freed from charge. The airline’s three-class E175 fleet can seat as much as 76 passengers – 12 in top notch, 12 in premium and 52 in economy.
13 peak day departures
By this fall, the carrier can be operating as much as 13 peak day departures from STS. Alaska has been the most important carrier at Sonoma County Airport since 2007, opening up convenient access to Northern California’s famous wine region. It was the airport’s first industrial flight operator and has since served over two million customers and counting.

In response to Cirium data, AS has over 10,000 seats scheduled for April, greater than double that offered by the following largest operator, Avelo Airlines. Nevertheless, Avelo is as a consequence of launch 4 more routes in May after recently establishing a brand new base on the airport, stationing two Boeing 737s there. It currently serves 4 destinations – Burbank, Las Vegas, Palm Springs and Redmond – but this may expand to eight in May with the addition of Boise, Kalispell, Salem and Tri-Cities, WA.
