Air Transat summer 2024 expansion
For those unfamiliar with the aviation industry, it’s typical for an airline to announce its schedule six months prematurely. Though the winter aviation season has just begun, several carriers have made announcements regarding their summer 2024 operations. Earlier today, Air Transat, a leisure carrier from Canada, became the newest airline to achieve this.
In accordance with an announcement today, Air Transat plans to supply greater than 180 weekly flights to almost 40 destinations. From Montreal alone, the Canadian airline will fly to twenty European cities. Perhaps probably the most notable changes is that Air Transat will fly to Lima, Peru, year-round. Flights from Montreal to Peru will operate once weekly on the Airbus A321neo.
Several Latin American and Caribbean destinations that already receive year-round service from Air Transat will see increased operations. This includes cities like Cancun, Montego Bay, Port-Au-Prince, Punta Cana, and Varadero. Cancun and Punta Cana may have probably the most flights from Montreal, eight weekly, a rise of 1 weekly frequency over 2023.
“By strengthening our frequency of flights to promising markets, expanding our presence in Europe, the U.S. and the South, and reducing the seasonality of our operations, we’re well positioned to maximise our revenues and market share in Quebec.” – Michèle Barre, Chief Revenue Officer, Air Transat
European cities will see probably the most significant increase in Air Transat flights, with 17 additional weekly flights in comparison with this yr. Paris will receive probably the most significant growth, 4 weekly flights, three from Montreal and one from Quebec. Barcelona will increase from 4 times weekly to every day. Nantes and Bordeaux may have two extra weekly flights from Montreal.

Several cities within the Golden State (California) and Sunshine State (Florida) are also due for a rise in Air Transat operations. Orlando International Airport may have probably the most significant change of American cities, going from three weekly flights to every day operations. Fort Lauderdale will increase to every day operations from 4 weekly flights, while neighboring Miami will go from three weekly flights to 5.
Flights from North America to Lima
In accordance with Cirium data, 1,369 flights are scheduled in each directions between North America and Lima in June 2024 from nine airlines. The busiest route belongs to American Airlines, which plans to fly thrice every day from Miami International Airport to Lima using its Airbus A321neos. LATAM also has a route between the 2 cities but has 74 flights scheduled each way in October. The South American carrier also has plans to fly from Cancun to Lima two times every day.

United Airlines has two Lima routes, one from Newark Liberty International Airport and the opposite from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport, each operating once every day. From Newark, United deploys the Boeing 757-200 while operations from Houston are on the Boeing 767-300. LATAM connects Lima to Miami, Mexico City, Atlanta, Cancun, Recent York City (JFK), and Los Angeles. Delta has only one route from Atlanta, operated by the Airbus A350s.
Aeromexico has two every day flights from Mexico City’s Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez. Aeromexico’s flights bring its seat offerings on the route to almost 20,000 because it deploys the Boeing 737 MAX 8. JetBlue has one every day flight scheduled from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport using its Airbus A321s. Volaris has every day flights on routes to Cancun and Mexico City. Several airlines compete on the Cancun – Lima route as Sky Airline connects the 2 cities, on top of Volaris and LATAM.
