Air India Express has wrapped up a nationwide recruitment drive as it looks to increase staffing ahead of a significant jet order. The low-cost carrier subsidiary of Air India targeted pilots and first officers in a series of recruitment events that concluded in Mumbai on Monday,
The airline experienced a significant turnout of pilots to the events as it looks to increase staffing to meet the growing demands of its operations. Air India Express is expected to receive some of the 190 Boeing 737 MAX narrowbodies ordered by its parent airline earlier this year.
Recruiting across the nation
The recruitment drive in Mumbai is the latest in a series of events. Air India Express previously held drives in Delhi on May 10th and 11, alongside one in Bangalore the following two days. The airline estimates around 300 pilots actively participated in the selection process during this series of events.
The roles to be filled include Pilots In-Command, Captains, Copilots, and Transition First Officers for the carrier’s Boeing 737-NG and Boeing 737 MAX fleets. The low-cost carrier has been actively increasing its workforce since last October and has recruited over 280 pilots and 250 cabin crew members so far.
The recruitment drive follows a similarly successful one by mainline carrier Air India, which seeks to recruit one thousand new pilots across its fleets. The Indian flag carrier received over 700 applicants in less than a week, forcing the airline to host additional walk-in interviews.
