Summary
- Air India Express is expanding its domestic presence and now operates flights from Gwalior to Hyderabad.
- Gwalior is the second city in Madhya Pradesh on Air India Express’ network after Indore.
- The carrier plans to give attention to price-sensitive budget travel routes while also expanding its international services, including to destinations in Southeast Asia.
For the longest time, Air India Express was primarily related to flights from mostly South Indian destinations to the Middle East. And while that continues to be a key marketplace for the carrier, it has now also began specializing in and expanding its domestic presence after merging operations with the previous AirAsia India. And the brand new Gwalior-Hyderabad flight is a component of that plan.
Latest Gwalior to Hyderabad service
Air India Express has announced the beginning of its service from Gwalior within the state of Madhya Pradesh to Hyderabad in Telangana on November 28. The carrier’s business strategy includes specializing in routes with the next demand for price-sensitive budget travel and leaving the main trunk routes for full-service airline Air India, that are higher yielding and require premium cabins.
The 2 airlines plan to supply complementary service to one another, with Air India Express also aspiring to connect customers from several small towns to major Air India hubs within the country for its international flights as well. Singh had earlier commented,
International expansion
In fact, Air India Express continues to serve key destinations within the Middle East and a few in Southeast Asia with the intention of adding more routes in the approaching months. The airline recently received two Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, and with several more planes to hitch its fleet within the near future, it can likely add more international routes to its network, too.

But no official announcements regarding these have been made by the carrier up to now.
