US-based hardware manufacturer PDW as announced that its C100 quadcopter has been approved for the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) Blue UAS program. This approval will streamline the method for military applications of the drone.
The Blue sUAS list is a program developed by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) of the Department of Defense (DoD), designed to vet industrial unmanned aerial systems (UAS) technology. The drones added to the DIU “Blue UAS Cleared List” have undergone a cybersecurity evaluation, an NDAA compliance check, and were issued the vital administrative documentation in order that it doesn’t require a DoD exception to policy to acquire or operate. This makes the Blue sUAS list a major benchmark within the drone industry, providing assurance of security and reliability for users.

The C100, a transportable, long-endurance drone, is able to as much as 74 minutes of flight and may carry a payload of as much as 15 kilos.
