SpaceX said the Super Heavy booster assigned to Starship Flight 15 completed a full-duration static fire with 33 engines on October 25, 2026. The company reported that Ship 42, the upper stage for the flight, completed its own full-duration static fire on October 28.
Key details
- Ship 42 fired six engines during the October 28 static fire.
- SpaceX also tested one Ship 42 Raptor engine in a simulation of a deorbit burn on October 28.
Ship 42 fired all six engines in a full-duration static fire on October 28, 2026.
Why it matters
The tests covered both major powered stages of the Starship system: Super Heavy, which provides the launch thrust, and Ship 42, the upper stage. The separate deorbit-burn simulation also exercised a planned maneuver using one Raptor engine.
What happens next
The Flight 15 preparations have now included full-duration engine tests for both stages and a deorbit-burn simulation. What Starship test milestone would you like to follow next?
