Boeing says the 777F has become the most widely operated freighter fleet, with more than 330 aircraft in service. The manufacturer also says the type carries more air cargo each year than any other freighter.
Key details
- Boeing estimates that 777Fs account for about 40% of global freighter capacity. - The fleet logged 6,250 flight hours in 2025, averaging more than 17 hours per day, according to Boeing. - Boeing says 777Fs operated 80% of freighter flights longer than 6,000 nautical miles. - Boeing estimates the fleet carried about $4 trillion in global trade in 2025. - Air Cargo News reports six 777F orders, 20 deliveries and 38 unfilled orders in Boeing’s 2026 data. It also reports more than 450 firm orders for the 777F and 777-8F combined.

Why it matters
The fleet’s reported share of global freighter capacity and its use on long-haul routes show the role Boeing assigns the 777F in moving air cargo across long distances. The figures also give cargo operators and aviation businesses a measure of the type’s current reach.
What happens next
Air Cargo News reports that an FAA emissions exemption granted in September allows Boeing to sell 777Fs beyond the end of 2027, with 35 additional aircraft eligible for sale and a Certificate of Airworthiness. The material gives no further timeline.
