Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is accused of losing a lady’s dog amid a flight from the Dominican Republic to the US. Paula Rodriguez launched into an extended journey from Santo Domingo to San Francisco but noticed her dog was not along with her during a layover in Atlanta.
Rodriguez said Delta initially contacted her about her lost dog’s claims last week but has not provided an update since. The airline is reportedly working with partners to seek out the dog.
“Your dog can’t include you”
Based on Atlanta News First, Rodriguez arrived at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) on Friday, August 18th. When she went through customs, an agent informed her that she couldn’t enter the US.
“They told me very kindly, ‘We’re so sorry but you don’t meet the necessities to enter the U.S., you’ve been denied entry, and it’s good to be sent back home to Santo Domingo.’” “They told me, ‘You’re going to should sleep in a penitentiary and your dog can’t include you.’”

When Rodriguez was about to board a flight back to Santo Domingo the next morning, she noticed her dog was nowhere to be found.

Upon her arrival within the Dominican Republic, Rodriguez began calling Delta and filing claims but said nobody knew where her dog was. On Monday, a representative from the airline contacted Rodriguez and confirmed that her dog had broken out of the kennel and had been missing since Saturday.
Missing for days
Since then, she has reportedly not received any further updates from Delta regarding her beloved dog, Maia.

Delta said the operations teams at ATL have been working to seek out the dog. Despite Rodriguez’s claims that the airline isn’t providing updates, Delta said it stays in contact along with her to offer updates, in accordance with Atlanta News First.
“Committed to ongoing search efforts”
Delta Communications Representative Drake Casteneda said on Thursday that the carrier is working with other partners to assist locate Maia.
“Delta people feel deeply concerned for the shopper and the dog and we’re committed to ongoing search efforts, working closely with the City of Atlanta Department of Aviation and other stakeholders,” said Drake Casteneda, a communications representative for Delta.”
Within the meantime, Rodriguez is reportedly turning to social media to get help finding her dog. She rescued Maia from the streets and has had her since she was one month old.
