Network expansion
Air India Express’ recent overseas flights are a part of its larger international expansion plans for this winter season. The Middle East stays the highest international region for the carrier, with greater than 2,600 return flights to varied destinations, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Bahrain, and Jeddah, amongst others, within the month of December, per Cirium.
Starting December 17, Air India Express will even fly non-stop between Surat within the state of Gujarat and Dubai 4 times per week. This route was in high demand for several years, mainly due to Surat’s significant diamond industry and Dubai being an enormous diamond trader.
While Singapore is the one destination on Air India Express’ Southeast Asia network (it flies to SIN from three Indian cities – Madurai, Chennai, and Tiruchirappalli), there are reportedly plans to fly to other popular destinations within the near future, including Thailand and Malaysia.
The airline now has an in depth domestic network after it integrated its operations with AirAsia India and recently announced the beginning of its service from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh to Hyderabad in Telangana.
Air India Express Will Focus On Price-Sensitive And Leisure Routes
The airline desires to focus on its core market and avoid any clash with Air India.
Fleet expansion
Air India Express has 34 Boeing 737 aircraft in its fleet, of which three are recent 737 MAX aircraft. Air India has ordered 190 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft that may proceed to reach for Air India Express over the subsequent few years.

The newest MAX aircraft were initially meant for a Chinese carrier and have premium seats, which the airline has began selling under its recently launched Vista VIP fare. The airline will receive greater than 50 recent planes over the subsequent 15 months and will even induct greater than 300 pilots in the approaching months to support that growth.
