Spanish low-cost carrier Volotea is making headwinds at Brest Bretagne Airport (BES), celebrating plans to open its twentieth European base on the French airport. The carrier, which focuses on regional routes, has a fleet of over 40 aircraft and reaches almost 80 destinations.
The airline plans to base certainly one of its Airbus A320 at Brest from April 2024, creating as much as 30 direct jobs and adding 200 not directly into the local economy. With recent routes set to take off, the carrier will offer around 400,000 seats to and from Brest next 12 months, a jump of over 1,200% in comparison with a decade ago.
Adding Athens, Barcelona, Faro and Palermo
For locals and tourists alike, traveling from Brest is about to get easier, with Volotea’s latest base enabling recent routes to be added to its existing services to Marseille, Montpellier, and Nice year-round and seasonal services to Ajaccio, Figari, and Palma de Mallorca in the summertime months.
The carrier will begin recent summer services to Faro on April 18th, Barcelona and Palermo the next day, April nineteenth, and Athens on April twentieth, with all routes uncontested by some other carrier on the airport. Volotea will serve the ways as below:
- Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport (BCN), on Mondays and Friday’s
- Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH), on Tuesdays and Saturdays
- Faro-Gago Coutinho International Airport (FAO), on Thursdays and Saturdays
- Palermo Falcone Borsellino Airport (PMO), on Mondays and Fridays

The founder and CEO of Volotea, Carlos Munoz, celebrated the announcement at Brest and the newest ninth base in France, reiterating the airline’s rapid growth since 2012:

A growing network at Brest
Volotea’s latest trans-European routes will complement the opposite currently available services, including Aegean Airlines, with its seasonal service to Heraklion, Irish carrier Aer Lingus, which operates over the summer to Dublin, Chalair Aviation, seasonally to Kerry, and Transavia, with year-round service to Marrakesh, and seasonal summer service to Porto. Other domestic carriers include Air France, Chalair Aviation, easyJet, Finist’air, and Transavia.
